The Pepper Box
$285.00
The Wem Rush Pep Box was a unique, sputtery fuzz apparently a favorite of the Beatles when making the White album. The only controls I felt the need to incorporate on the Pepper Box was a master volume and a fat switch. On one side is the original bass response. A nasally, heavily gated fuzz sure to cut through any mix. On the other side you get more bass, which in turn gives you a bit more gain and sustain to assault the front end of your amp. At its core are two high gain germanium transistors, so this pedal should be first in your pedal chain, and may not work properly in extreme hot or cold weather conditions. If you find this to be an issue on a hot stage, find the nearest cooler and give it 10 minutes. As the germanium transistors cool down to room temperature, they will correct their bias and the pedal will begin to work properly, a quirk of working with germanium, the heartbeat of this original circuit. Built with top quality components, carbon comp resistors, Alpha potentiometers, Neutrik or Switchcraft jacks, a Gorva Design soft click footswitch and a custom designed turret board/PCB for point to point wiring. Does not require a battery, operates off a standard 9v center negative power supply, and can be daisy chained with all other center negative polarity effects.
