The Two Face
$300.00
The Fuzz Face is known for cleaning up exceptionally well when using the volume on your guitar, a benefit to the circuits particularly low impedance reacting with your guitars pickups. Leave it dimed and use your guitar to control all your dynamics. The Two Face gives you access to a second channel with a "clean up" knob for instant access to lower gain tones. It also gives you the option for classic germanium transistors, or more modern silicon transistors. When using the germanium transistors, the Two Face does not play well with other buffered bypass pedals (like your Boss tuner) and should always be placed first in your pedal chain. Place a buffer before it and it wont work properly at all. Place them after and you may notice some undesirable treble frequencies added to your tone. To correct this issue, I've added what I call the "buffer baffle". This switch dampens some of the harsh top end caused by a buffer, keeping your fuzz tone nice and warm as it should be. You may also notice your fuzz tone gating out in extreme temperature conditions. This is because germanium transistors change their bias depending on temperature. Your fuzz is not broken and will return to the correct bias when it arrives back at room temperature. In this scenario, you can also switch to the silicon setting and the problem should correct itself, because silicon is much more stable than germanium, but also comes with a bit more gain and top end. On the face of the pedal, you'll find a gain control that I have modified to be an input control. This controls the amount of signal going into the circuit, making for a smoother, more usable feel. The true gain of the circuit can be found as a trim pot on the circuit board. Dial it back just a tad to help with better cleanup and get rid of some background noise. Built with top quality components, carbon comp resistors, Alpha potentiometers, Neutrik or Switchcraft jacks, a Gorva Design soft click footswitch and a custom designed turret board/PCB for point to point wiring. Does not require a battery and operates off a standard 9v center negative power supply and can be daisy chained with all other center negative polarity effects.
